BlindScreen Bug Screen and Scene Set Fabric on Bifold and French Doors in Kinver

Keeping Bugs Out While the Doors Stay Open

This Kinver home had BlindScreen fitted to two sets of doors that both lead onto the garden: a bifold door in the bedroom and a French door in the spare room. Each one has a bug screen and Scene Set fabric on a dual track system. The customer wanted two things: to stop bugs coming in, and to control the light.

Doors are the hardest openings to deal with in summer. A door left open for air lets insects in, and curtains or a standard blind do nothing to stop that.

Why One Dual Track System Instead of Separate Products

A standard fly screen stops insects but does nothing for light. A standard blind controls light but can’t be used as an insect barrier. BlindScreen puts both on one four-sided frame, so a single product covers each door. The frame fits within the recess of the window or door, and the blind is operated by a handle with no cords.

Scene Set is a 50% blackout fabric. It cuts the light coming through while still letting daylight into the room, which is the effect you can see in the bedroom photos below.

What Was Fitted

Both doors have a bug screen and Scene Set fabric on a dual track. Both have a grey frame, a grey bug screen and dark grey Scene Set fabric, so the colours sit comfortably with the customer’s existing decor.

What the Customer Gets on Each Door

The bug screen gives an insect barrier, and the Scene Set fabric reduces light on the same door. Either can be used on its own, or both together, depending on the time of day. That means the customer can open the doors in summer for airflow without letting bugs inside, and still have light control when she needs it.

What they said

These bug screens have made a massive difference.

I was having a nightmare with bugs getting in through my French doors and bifold doors when they were open. These bug screens have made a massive difference, and the 50% blackout blind has been a real bonus with the light control too, letting the light in during the day but being able to keep the room darker when needed.

Really happy with them and would recommend them to anyone, wish I'd got them sooner!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a bug screen and Scene Set fabric on a BlindScreen?

The bug screen is a fine mesh that blocks insects and keeps the view. Scene Set is a 50% blackout fabric that reduces light. A dual track BlindScreen holds both, so you choose which one to use.

  • Can a BlindScreen be fitted to a bifold door or a French door?

Yes. BlindScreen is made to measure in a four-sided frame for windows and doors. This install has one on a bedroom bifold door and one on a French door.

  • Is a BlindScreen safe for children?

Yes. The blind runs in a four-sided frame and is operated by handle, so there are no cords and no extra child safety devices are needed.
