Bay windows are one of the standout features of a Victorian or Edwardian home, and when shutters are made to follow the exact lines of the bay, the whole room calms down and the window finally looks finished rather than fought-with. Why bay windows need their own specialist shutters
Bay windows come in three broad shapes: box bays (square corners with parallel returns), canted bays (the most common in West Midlands semis, with returns at roughly 45°), and bow bays (a gentle curve made up of several flat sections). Each shape changes how a shutter has to be cut.
A standard flat shutter ordered to width simply won't sit flush against an angled return, you'd be left with awkward gaps, or a panel that catches on the side wall. We measure every face of your bay separately, including the precise angle of each return, then manufacture each panel to that exact geometry.

Which bay window styles work best?
The most popular choice is the full height style, one continuous panel from sill to head on each face of the bay. It gives the cleanest, most architectural look and lets the bay speak for itself.
For a street-facing bay where you want light from above but privacy below, tier-on-tier shutters are a great alternative, open the upper section for daylight while the lower section stays closed.

What to expect from your free home survey to fit
Every job starts with a free home survey. Brad, Andy or Jack will pop round at a time that suits you (usually evenings or weekends) to look at your windows, talk through styles, materials and finishes, and measure every opening to the millimetre. We don't ask homeowners to self-measure, and we don't sub-contract surveys to a national franchise.
Once you've approved the design, your shutters are built to those exact dimensions in our partner workshop. Typical lead time is around 10 to 12 weeks, though some ranges can be ready in around 4 weeks depending on style. You can read the full timeline breakdown if you want the detail.
Fitting is usually a single day, two of us on site, dust sheets down, hoover out at the end. And every shutter we fit is backed by our 5-year guarantee on materials and workmanship.
