Recent BlindScreen® Install in Stourbridge on Kitchen French Doors

Kitchen French doors in Stourbridge with grey Scene Set fabric pulled across one side and bug-screen mesh on the other, garden visible behind

A quick one from our installation team this week. A homeowner in Stourbridge wanted something a bit more flexible than a blind on a set of kitchen French doors. The doors open straight out onto the garden, so in summer the room either ends up too bright and warm or full of insects whenever the doors are open. We fitted a Dual BlindScreen® across the opening: one grey frame with a Scene Set™ dim-out fabric in one side cassette and a bug-screen mesh in the other.

The result has gone down really well. Light in the room is much more comfortable through the middle of the day, the doors can sit wide open without bugs getting in, and the slim grey frame barely registers against the doors when everything is retracted.

Watch the Dual BlindScreen® in action

The video below shows how it works day to day. The Dual BlindScreen® is one frame with two fabric cassettes built into it: Scene Set™ dim-out on one side, bug-screen mesh on the other. Each fabric pulls out independently from its own cassette, and the two magnetise together when they meet in the middle. Either fabric can also be pulled the full width of the frame on its own, with the other tucked away in its cassette completely out of sight. That is why it is called Dual rather than dual-track: one track, two fabrics, sharing the same opening.

A quick word on Scene Set™

Scene Set™ is BlindScreen®‘s dim-out fabric. It is not a true blackout. It gently filters out roughly half of incoming daylight, taking the edge off glare and warmth without making the room dark. That is exactly what was wanted here: somewhere you can sit at the kitchen table on a bright afternoon without the sun in your eyes, while still keeping a connection to the garden outside. If you need full blackout (for bedrooms, nurseries or shift work) we would specify a different fabric.

Look at the difference

One French door covered with the grey Scene Set fabric pulled across, the other left clear
Scene Set™ fabric pulled halfway across from its side cassette, the bug screen pulled halfway across from the opposite cassette to meet it. Each fabric runs independently, so you can dim part of the opening and screen the rest.
Both French doors fully covered with the grey Scene Set dim-out fabric
Scene Set™ pulled the full width of the frame, fully covering both French doors with the bug screen tucked away in its cassette. The grey-on-grey colourway sits cleanly against the dark door frames.

Want the same on your French doors?

If you have French doors, bifolds or large patio doors that need a bug screen, a Scene Set™ or blackout blind, or both in the same opening, BlindScreen® is the only system we fit that can do all of it from a single slim grey frame. Survey to fitting is usually around 14 days.
