Homely benefits you didn’t know you’re getting
On top of looking great and offering you better privacy than blinds and curtains, there are a few extra benefits to your home that shutters offer which other products don’t.
Perfect Light, Any Time of the Day
Shutters are far easier to adjust and live with than blinds or curtains, which by design offer limited flexibility. With shutters, you can fine-tune light and privacy exactly how you like it, without having to fully open or close anything. How many times have you had to walk away from a Zoom meeting or pause your favourite show to adjust the light level because it’s affecting how well you can see your screen?
With blinds you have to remember what side your cord hangs, untangle it from the open/close cord, then spend a few seconds going backwards and forwards trying to get the angle of the blinds right so that you can see properly but don’t get sun in your eyes. Curtains and roller blinds are even worse because you can only slide them left to right or up and down, leaving you trying to pull it across just that little bit.
You don’t have this problem with shutters. Simply grab your tilt rod and effortlessly move them up or down to suit your needs, or for those of you that opt for the premium hidden tilt option, just push one of the louvres and watch the whole panel effortlessly adjust. Worried about losing some of your privacy if you’re on a busy road? This isn’t a problem if you opt for split tilt louvres or tier-on-tier shutters. Split tilt louvres mean that a specified number of louvres at the top adjust independently of the bottom louvres, meaning you can open the top ones to let light in whilst keeping the bottom ones closed, preserving your privacy. If you opt for tier-on-tier it works just the same; you open the louvres on the top panels or open the whole panel to make the most of the winter sunlight whilst leaving the bottom panels and louvres closed.
Keep Your Home Cool in the Summer and Warm in the Winter
An often overlooked feature of shutters is their insulating properties. The way our shutters are designed, built and fitted into your home means they also act as a heat barrier far better than any set of blinds. Most blinds are about as thick as your average t-shirt or a couple of pieces of paper whilst shutters are made of wood multiple millimetres thick allowing them to hold a lot more heat in the house during the winter or block the sun from heating up your house too much in the summer.
If you like your windows open in the summer you can simply open your louvres slightly and they’ll let a nice breeze come through without all the UV from the sun which helps to keep you cool, with the added benefit of you not having to listen to blinds clatter and potentially break if the breeze is too strong. All of this means you’ll actually save money in the long run on your heating bills, resulting in more money in your pocket.
